Illustration Friday: Tape

This weeks Illustration Friday topic was 'Tape'. I used to use these topics all the time as prompts for creating art for no other purpose than to create art. Usually in my sketch book, which I couldn't happen to find today, so a piece of cartridge paper it was! (My studio is such a mess.)
This happy little lady is celebrating her love of washi tape. I love washi tape! I used washi tape in the first layer of this piece. It was just a quick one today, and I think it sort of has that 'mixed media art' feel to it. Yay for washi tape!

Illustration Friday- Spider

Last weeks Illustration Friday topic was 'spider'.

I did a quick sketch book entry for this one.
And I was thinking about spiders whilst I was creating. And my over-the-top fear I have for them! So creepy. Especially the big huntsman types that like to visit us in our homes, or the whitetails that like to hide in our clothes on the floor. Ugh! We also have a few redback spiders lurking out in the garage that we have to be careful of. I don't think many Aussies go willy-nilly grabbing at old dusty stuff in their garages without being slightly cautious!
On a particular girls trip to Warburton we encountered a previously settled in guest in one of the bedrooms. We elected to leave it to have the whole room to itself and slept in the lounge room instead ;)
I hope the next time I feel inclined to do an Illustration Friday topic it's one that I feel a bit warmer towards.

Go on, tell me in the comments; spiders: love or loathe?

Jules :)

Illustration Friday Topic: Stripes

Been a while since I've participated in an Illustration Friday topic, which is a weekly prompt for creating art set out every Friday.

This week's topic was Stripes. I did a quick sketch in my sketch book.  A nice way to spend some time on a Sunday!
Moleskines are my favourite! (This link is an affiliate link- which means if you purchase through that link I receive a commission at no extra cost to you. I have linked to the sketchbook I personally use, the size is portable but still with enough space to create.)

There are a multitude of reasons why I love using Moleskine brand; sounds like a future blog post! :)

This illustration was created using lyra pencil (another growing studio-staple), acrylic paints + medium and collage.

Illustration Friday- Universe

I used to participate in coming up with artworks for Illustration Friday regularly a few years back. They give you a topic each week & you come up with an illustration for the topic... That's for those of you who haven't heard of it. This weeks illustration topic was Universe.
I thought about my own universe. I also thought about when I hear the word I immediately think of images that are complicated, busy, dreamy & mysterious. There's so much imagery that could be included in an illustration that portrays the word universe. I've chosen a few select themes to represent my idea. I've added in a cosmic turtle. In Hindu, Chinese & Native American mythology, the world is supported on a giant turtle's back. Then it goes from there...
What's in your universe?
